I just happened here by chance, from another blog from another blog from another blog... sorry, i have no idea which landed me here. Anyway, i'm glad - this is beautiful (and the photo complements it perfectly). Reminds me of a poem of my own about jackdaws, which i was about to link to but i don't think it's online. Instead i can show you my Speaking starling. You can tell birds inspire me!
I'd be glad of critique from anyone who feels like it. It's one of those poems i'm not 100% happy with though i can't put my finger on it. Since gaining blogging experience, i probably wouldn't have posted it, but since it's out there i may as well get advice if i can. :0)
and I love the photo, too. I found out why I haven't been around a lot lately -- your new posts weren't showing up in my reader!! Today I suddenly had a week's worth!
I should pop in in person instead of relying on the reader, I suppose! I'm going to catch up with everything this weekend.
Not too many people write poetry about turkey vultures but you captured them perfectly. They are big and love to ride the warm thermals and then hang out.... Michelle

If I could do it,I'd do no writing at all here. It would be photographs; the rest would be fragments of cloth, bits of cotton, lumps of earth, records of speech, pieces of wood and iron, phials of odors, plates of food and of excrement... ... A piece of the body torn out by the roots might be more to the point. James Agee

A lovely haiku! Autumns requisite indeed - bare trees! nice image!
Repsite I need too :)
Very poignant haiku for those that are now migrating. We saw a flock two days ago with literally hundreds of wings flying...
I just love this. Beautiful ;-)
Resting and watching
I love the image and the thought of six exhausted wings. You found a haiku in a tree!
Are those turkey vultures? They are huge!
A wonderful captured moment, Michelle!
:)
Beautiful vision of autumn, despite the desolation...
Somehow the word "respite" gives me hope for more clement seasons.
Have a great weekend! :-)
They surely must be exhausted. I like this one, Michelle.
A beauty of a haiku Michelle.
Your photos are awesome!

Wonderful photo and poem! Next year you'll have to include it in the Vulture-love-athon. (I think it's September 5th.)
I love this photo. Great capture!
