    from Photobucket

Monday Mural will feature a picture/ artwork for you to lend your words (poem or story) each Monday. I want you to ask yourself what images are provoked here? What words would you use to define this picture? If you choose to write for Monday Mural please leave your comments below. Hope to see you around.

Fairy was originally uploaded by Mariposa Viajera at Photobucket. I thought this was a beautiful piece of art and had to use it. The reason for choosing fairy art was because I went to see Spiderwick Chronicles today and absolutely loved the movie. Happy Writing~

    Photo Hunt- wooden

Winter wind scuds past my face with agitation as I stand inside the parapets of one hundred hands. I feel the winds inflicted numbness on my fingers before I take the picture of a lone sycamore tree laying inside Maysville Landing's foyer.

Above, a trains tresspass cues me to walk along the small embankment behind me. When I reach the top I see my daughter. Her ebony hair whittled from a crow's feather cascades her shoulders, full quotation. I yell down to her we're leaving now as I turn inside the margin of the tracks and snap one last picture.

Friday 5 words are in bold. Thanks to everyone for stopping by and taking the time to comment. It is appreciated. Have a nice weekend everyone. Happy Photo Hunt and Friday 5~

    Happy Hollow

    A white house still stands
With a raised black brow at the end of
    Happy Hollow's cobblestone road.
I remember the eight pocket corner
    With its white picket fence
    Lining the gray sidewalk.

Memory has me playing with my children,
    An aqua blue tricycle
    And an orange basketball.
    Wrapped inside Tide's wafting odor,
I point my four year old finger
At each child as I pretend to be my mother.

"Don't you do that again!" I said
    "Do you hear me?"
I decide to take the oldest by the hand
    Pulling her down the thin
    Sidewalk
While holding my youngest in my arms.

At sidewalk's end, I look both ways before
Retracing my steps towards the swingset.
Safely on board the two-seater train
We began our journey to places like
    Vietnam where my father
    Served his country.

Valentine's Day is just around the corner. I have decided to have everyone write a valentine poem to their respective other, friend or me. Write your poem using the provided phrase as the first line, softly we met with a kiss. Here's the kicker- you can't use the words heart, love, rose(s), candy, chocolate, red, cherubs/ angels or anything commonly understood for Valentine's Day in your poem. Happy Valentine's Day Writing~

    Manic Monday

What is the most romantic movie that you've ever seen? Love Story-1970, The Thorn Birds- 1983, Untamed Heart-1993 and Bichunmoo- 2000 are four of my favorites. Bichunmoo is a South Korean, subtitled movie with a well groomed love story and lots of sword fighting.

If you could be the lover of any person alive other than your current lover, who would you pick? Being happily married I don't need or want a lover.

What scents remind you of a loved one? Gillette Aftershave Lotion reminds me of my husband, John. Fresh broken dirt reminds me of my mother. I know that sounds funny but, she likes to build houses. Creosote is what reminds me of my father who used to work on the railroad.

Thanks to everyone for stopping by. Happy MM~

Pictured is one of the pylons from the Hope Memorial Bridge in Cleveland, OH. It's holding an old time car- perhaps a Ford. Each pylon holds a different piece of transportation in his hands. These beautiful structures are the "guardians of traffic." For other pictures of Hope Memorial Bridge click on the link above. Happy Writing~

    mosaic moon

    my mosaic is the moon,
broken off like ripe flower petals
from a red flower brilliant as
    one thousand suns.

    her fingers delicate as
    dried Tenuifolia
    breaks medium glass pieces
    and places them where
the island stretches off the coast like
    reflections inside a sepia afternoon.

    your backbone rigid like
the KY mountains you used to climb,
aches as you lean over the vivid canvas.
colors are spinning inside your head
    similar to the bicycle
careening down the hill like a child's cartwheels.

my landing isn't as soft as
    the smoldering dust but,
i brush off broken glass residue
from my fingers and keep going.

crazy bird its song like sweet nectar
    sips through my throat
    until the cement river dries
    between the bank's shards.
    there- she spun off like
    white milk over a waterfall
and, held his monotonous voice like
like an echo inside my head.

    my days pass like
    a slow summer breeze
while i gaze upon the moon,
broken off like ripe flower petals
from a red flower brilliant as
    one thousand suns.

The bold phrases I used are from a prompt given at The Last Piaster. Please follow the link if you are interested in participating and receiving general critiques on your work.
