    Nonet

A Nonet is a nine line poem beginning with 9 syllables and ending with 1. You can write on any subject with optional rhyme.

    Line 1, 9 syllables
    Line 2, 8 syllables
    Line 3, 7 syllables
    Line 4, 6 syllables
    Line 5, 5 syllables
    Line 6, 4 syllables
    Line 7, 3 syllables
    Line 8, 2 syllables
    Line 9, 1 syllable

    Here's an example

    Sweetheart Tree

    his dulcinea, his love calved
their initials on an oak tree,
    excessive rind chipped away,
    a sequence baring her
    grafted emotion.
    she's waiting to
    see his smile,
    only
    once.

Friday 5 words are in bold.

Michelle, I love all you feed us, thank you. I tried a Nonet immediately, so much fun to try to conform thoughts to a syllable pattern.

How clever to link them all like this!

A lovely image! Do lovers still express passionately in bark? I don't think so, but how romantic. Thanks for the prompt. I gave it a try and called it "Together".

I read you have been sick, all better I hope! :-) Take care.

Michelle, quite a task combining those five words with a Nonet. You pulled it off quite well.

The phrase, "... a sequence baring her grafted emotion," caught my attention.

Another new challenge I would like to try.

You did a great job on "Sweetheart Tree"

Very interesting, Michelle. You used the words so well, and created a lovely poem. I can picture the two lovers in the woods, or maybe just the woman, carving away, hoping he'll see what she did.

People do still carve their initials, at least where I live.

That's a great one. Thanks, as always, for broadening my horizons.

I wrote this as soon as I read the post. I'm late for lunch, here it is:

    Deposed? Dew Roused.

    much love.
